History Lexington Gay Services Organization is formed to provide educational and social support for LGBTQIA+ Kentuckians. — 1977 The Gayzette, a newsletter for the LGBTQIA+ community in Central Kentucky is launched. — 1979 Involved in filling social service gaps and gay stigmas regarding the HIV epidemic — 1980's Sponsored first annual Pride Picnic — 1982 Received 501(c)(3) status from the IRS — 1983 Name changes to Gay & Lesbian Services Organization (GLSO). The word “lesbian” was added to the name to recognize important roles of female leaders. — 1986 Stonewall Network began working on raising funds to create a Pride Center — 1993 GLSO Pride Center opens — 1996 GLSO presents the first Lexington Pride Festival — 2008 LINQ Magazine covering the LGBTQIA+ community in Central Kentucky is launched — 2013 Name changes to Pride Community Services Organizaton (PCSO) to reflect diversity of community — 2015 First Executive Director, Carmen Wampler-Collins, is hired. — 2019 PCSO launches Peoples’ Market food pantry to help eliminate food insecurity for LGBTQIA+ people — 2019 PCSO Pride Center goes from offering part-time to full-time open hours — 2020 Name changes to Lexington Pride Center — 2021
